DEFENCE OF MOSUL.
SECURE AGAINST ATTACK.
BAGDAD, Jan. 1. General Darly, chief adviser to the Irak army, reports that Mosul is secure against Turkish attack. It is estimated that 15,000 British and Irak troops are assembled on the frontier. The Daily Mail’s Aleppo correspondent asserts that tho Angora Government is supporting Turkish raids on the Syrian frontier. He reports large Turkish concentrations at Diarbekr, Mardin and Jezire.—Sydney 3m. cable.
KEMAL’S DECLARATION
CANNOT AFFORD A WAR.
LONDON, Jan. 1. Tho Westminster Gazette's Angora correspondent says that Korea!, conferring with the military leaders, declared that Turkey could not afford a war over Irak. A British mission, excluding Mr L. C. Amerv, would be welcomed to negotiate regarding Mosul. —Sydney Sun irble.
