During the holidays Mr M. Rogers, of Appleby, xvho recently retired from the teaching profession, had a narrow escape from being goi-ed to death by a Jersey bull. He was attacked without xvarning and knocked down, but fortunately managed to escape, his only injuries being a broken rib and sex r ere bruises. The bull had been dehorned and had stumps about tln-ee inches long. But for this the consequences for Mr Rogers xvould havo been much iroi'e serious.
