A traveller, in conversation with a “Standard” reporter, commented upon the absence of adequate lighting facilities at the Fitzlierbert street bridge at the present time. Prior to the advent of electric light locally, ho explained, there was a gaslight standard at each end of the structure,' but, with the installation of electric power, they had been done away with, giving place to one electric light standard which was suspended at the town side of the bridge. Tho rays from tho light tended to give the effect, when driving from the Fitzerbert West side, of a car approaching the bridge, and many motorists had stopped their cars awaiting tho crossing of the vehicle, only to find that they had been in error.
