Among the visitors to the boys’ camp at Ashhurst yesterday was Lady VV llson.
Mrs A. V Skerman, of Otaki, mother of Mr A. J. Poderin, passed away unexpectedly on December 31st, at Wellington.
Commissioner Hoggard, of the Salvation Army, who visited Palmerston North yesterday, left for Auckland fast evening.
Adjutant Canty, of the local corps of the Salvation Army, lias been advised that he is to be transferred to another town at an early date.
A London cablegram states that the Admiralty announces that Captain George Hyde, of the Royal Australian Navy, will succeed Comodore Wardlo in command of the Australian Fleet on May 1 next. • O’Connor, headmaster of vY.aijn School, has been appointed headmaster of the Pahiatua District High School. Mr O’Connor has had 21 years teaching service in the Auckland district and has been 1$ years in «tfs present position.
