NATIVE BOY’S ENDURANCE.

HAND MISSING AND BLIND. CAPETOWN, Nov. 14. A remarkable instance of native endurance is reported from Gatooma, in Rhodesia. A few days ago the police discovered a boy in the veldt, blinded and with one of his hands missing. It is supposed he came by his injuries while “fishing” with dynamite. For over a month tho boy had been wandering in the bush seeking a settlement and living on roots, grass and leaves, for which ho groped with the only hand left him. When found ho was suffering principally from starvation. The stump of the mutilated hand had practically healed. He was taken to Gatooma Hospital and is making favourable progress.
