Sweltering in the Northern Territory, 150 miles from a settlement, and with only a few drops of water in the radiator, and none anywhere else. This was one of the tight fixes (says a Sydney paper) of Mrs Marion Bell and her daughter on their journey, round Australia by car. Those last few drops of water were precious. A straggler stumbled across their track. He was dying of thirst. Silently the radiator was drained for him. Then —tho first rain in that part for a year fell ! They caught it in a tarpaulin —and breathed again.

He stated recently that in England, proportionately, far more men played the game than in New Zealand, and ho, had found that tho players in the North Island were practically all women. In Christchurch he had learned that there wero about a dozen male players. Ho was of the opinion that the best players in the Dominion were as good as the best players in Britain, but that there were more good players in England.
