PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME.
SENTENCES AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 23. In the Supremo Court His Honour, Mr Justice Reed, sentenced Clifford Nelson for double breaking and entering and theft, arson, and forgery and uttering to three years’ hard labour and declared him an habitual criminal. William Knox, alias Johnston, alias Verney, for breaking, entering and theft (convicted fourteen times in the last four years), was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal.
