SWIMMING RECORD.
AUCKLAND YOUTH’S FEAT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 23. A now Dominion record for tho halfmile swim, established by an Auckland youth, A. E. Baird, and a display of plain and fancy swimming by Miss Hilda James, holder of all British ladies’ records from 150 yards to five miles, were features of the Waitemata Amateur Swimming Club’s sports meeting at the tepid baths last evening. In lowering the record of 12min 1 4-ssecs by 2 2-ssecs Baird showed remarkably good form. He overhauled five other swimmers with large had dicaps to win by about 25 yards.
