WORKERS’ DWELLINGS.

BOROUGH COUNCIL’S SCHEME. START TO BE MADE SOON. A commencement will be made ah most immediately with the erection of ten workers’ dwellings applied for by employees of the Borough Council under the £IO,OOO loan scheme, tho Mayor (Mr F. J. Nathan) informed a ‘.‘Standard” reporter yesterday afttcnoon. It will be remembered that some time ago the council made application for a loan of £IO,OOO for the erection of dwellings for its employees in connection with a scheme whereby the occupants pay off the cost of the residences on a set scale, eventually becoming the owners. The scheme, the Mayor pointed out, was not costing the council anything, and he had no doubt that, if further applications were received from other borough employees, the financing of the erection of additional houses could be satisfactorily arranged.
