LOCARNO AGREEMENT.

WILL BE SIGNED BY GERMANY.

WILLING TO JOIN THE LEAGUE.

BERLIN, Nov. 29. The Reichstag by 278 to 189 approved of Germany’s entry into the League of Nations.

The Reichstag also passed by 300 to 174 the third reading of the bill ratifying tho Locarno treaties. President von Hindenburg, the Chancellor (Dr Luther) and tho Foreign Secretary (Dr. Stresemann) will sign tho Locarno agreement. Legislation for the evacuation of tho Cologne zone will begin on November 30.—A. and N.Z. cable. ADMISSION DELAYED. WAITING FOR COLOGNE EVACUATION. GENEVA, Nov. 29. It is believed that Germany will not apply for admission to the League of Nations at the forthcoming session of tho Council as she desires to await the complete evacuation of Cologne before applying for admission.—A. and N.Z. cable.

POSITION OF DOMINIONS.

NOT COMMITTED IN ANY WAY

LONDON, Nov. 28. Mr L. M. Amery (Dominions Minister) and Mr Austen Chamberlain (Foreign Minister) conjointly have invited the High Commissioners for India, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, the Irish Free State and Newfoundland to attend tho signing of the Locarno Pact at the Foreign Office on Tuesday. Sir Joseph Cook and Sir James Allen explain that they will be merely spectators, not signing and not committing the Dominions in any way.— A. and N.Z. cable.

NEW ZEALAND’S POSITION

“WE STAND WITH GREAT BRITAIN.”

The Prime Minister (the Hon. J. G. Coates) stated in Wellington last night that tho reason why the High Commissioner would not sign the Pact for the Dominion was simply because New Zealand’s participation had not been ratified by Parliament. “As far as this Government is concerned,” said Mr Coates, “it takes its stand with Great Britain, and is committed to the pact, but no signature will be attached until Parliament has dealt with it.” TO KILL THE PACT. ARMED MARCH ON BERLIN. * LONDON, Nov. 19. The Daily News’s Berlin correspondent says that tho authorities havo discovered a Junker plot, which was hatched at a secret meeting on Sunday, and which planned for an armed body of patriots from the east of. the Elbe to march on Berlin and forcibly dissolve the Reichstag. The plot aimed at the establishment of a dictatorship with a view to preventing tho signing of the pact. The authorities havo doubled the Foreign Minister’s (Dr Stresemann) police guard, and are preparing to round up the plotters. Meanwhile, although it is believed that there is no chalice of the crazy hotheads succeeding in their scheme, the situation demands a more vigorous Government defence of the Locarno agreements.
