MINERS’ ORDEAL
BURIED FOR EIGHTY HOURS, RESCUE OF ONE MAN. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.} Received November 30, 0.45 a.m. LONDON, Nov. ; 28. A fall of earth in Wath Main colliery, South Yorkshire, on ’.Tuesday evening entombed miners named Poole and Flinders. ’Rescue parties had to remove hundreds of tons of debris and had practically given up hopo till at midnight on Friday they heard tappings. Then Poole’s voice could bo distinguished. Redoubled efforts resulted in the rescue of Poole at eight o’clock this morning in a state of collapse after an eighty hours’ ordeal. The search continues for Flinders. — A. and N.Z. cable.
