KILLED BY LION

AUCKLAND MAN’S DEATH. TRAGEDY IN CENTRAL AFRICA. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 4. A cable received from his widow states that Mr \\ r . R. Twigg, of Auckland, was killed in an encounter with a lion in Africa. Messrs Twigg and John Holmes, of Frankton Junction, left Auckland in June with intent to do big game shooting in Central Africa. Mrs Twigg accompanied her husband and was staying at Livingstone, Rhodesia, while Messrs Twigg and Holmes went to the wilds aftergame. Mr Twigg was one of the best deer stalkers in New Zealand and had probably the finest collection of heads in the Dominion; a considerable portion of them went to Wembley on loan to the Government. Mr Twigg was very well known in business circles and was chairman of the Twigg Engineering Co. and head of AV. R. Twigg, Ltd.
