PRISON PRICES.

ALL FAT AND HAPPY. MELBOURNE, Nov. 23. According to the report of Sir George Buchanan on the'Northern Territory, the general hospital at Darwin is falling to pieces, but the gaol is in good repair, and is the most popular institution in Darwin. Prisoners, he says, are pampered to the point of extravagance. There is practically no work to do, the food is excellent and tobacco is issued daily. The aborigines look fat and happy—it is no punishment for them to be detained.
