BUNNYTHORPE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Tuesday, 27th October, Mr Gordon Eliott, tiro Reform candidato for Orcua, again addressed tho electors hero, there boing a good attendance. Mr W. B. Duthio presided. Tho speakor received a good hoaring and dealt fully with tho Reform platform, and in reply to interjec lions scored with very ablo replies. At tho closo of tho address a number of question were answered and on tho motion of Mr Searle, seconded by Mr J. AV. Clevely, a hearty voto of thanks was accorded Mr Eliott for his able address, and tho mooting oxpressed approval of tho round administration of tho Coates Government A vote, of tliacKs to tho chairman concluded a most successful meeting. On Wednesday evening tho Miniature Riifo Club’s first annual ball was held ju the public hall, thero being 100 couples present, and tho function was a brilliant success. Tho committee had left nothing undone to make tho evening enjoyable. Tho hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion with evergreens and steramers and with tho many colours presented a pleasing appearance. The committee deserves to bo congratulated on its efforts, and also tho ladies who providod tho supper. Tho duties of M.’sC. wero ably carried out by Messrs E. Coulter, 11. Hughes, and It. Sutherland. .Tho friends of Mr and Mrs A. E. ITydo will regret to bear that their youngest son is an inmato of the Palmerston North Hospital, as also is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Wills. In each caso an operation was necessary.
TOKOMARU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Tho tenins season has opened auspiciously, .both the school court and that on tho property of Mr Hughes having boon patronised for some considerable time. Architects visited tho school recently for tho purposo of carrying out minor alterations. Tho school committee have been commended by tho Education Board concerning their efforts on behalf of the school. Charlie Midgley is an mmato of hospital at present, suffering from eyo trouble. Mr Smeaton, of Featherston, has been appointed to fill the vacancy at tho local railway station cacusod by tho transfer of Mr McLennon to Kahvarra. Several tractor demonstrations have been made on various local properties, great interest having been taken by tho farmers in tho results. Miss B. Kelly has returned from an extended holiday to AA’ellington. Mrs Castle, senr., of AA’ellington, is visiting friends here. Tho general election and tho oponig day of the Palmerston North show coinciding, a school holiday will bo granted on that day (November 4th).
