STEEPLEJACK’S THRILL.

TRIPPED BY A FLAG. While repairing a statue of St. Helena on the 20ilft tower of Colchester Town liall, Mr W. Larkin, steeplejack, had a narrow escape from death. Tlie statue,* which is in- bronze and 12ft high, is in some danger owing to loosened fastenings. Mr Larkin was about 2011 below tho statue when a largo flag hanging from' a window was blown by the wild around his legs. The steeplejack, taken unawares, was just able to grasp one of the bronze ravens, which ornament the tower, to prevent himself from tailing.
