GUN CLUB.
SATURDAY’S MATCHES,
Tho Palmerston North Gun Club held a trophy shoot and series of sweepstakes on Saturday, the weather being fine, but with a tricky wind which made matters difficult for tho shootists. Following wero the results of tho matches :
Trophy shoot and first sweepstake: P. A. Meehan and H. Nutt'all, with seven birds each out of eight, divided tho money and shot off for the trophy, which was taken by P. A. Meehan after two extra rounds. Sixes wero got by M. Koarins, H. Best, S. Sievert, R. Sievert and C. A. Rofe. Second sweepstake: This was also an eight-bird match, which was won outright by P. A. Meehan with all on, C. A. Rol'o filling second place with seven.
Third sweepstake : This was Avon outright by -C. A. Rofo with eight on, Avhile thero Avere five Avith six on- — A. Thomson, K. Thomson, P. A. Meehan, A. L. Cook, J. Donald. In the shootoff A. Thomson Avon after ten birds had been shot.
A strong contingent of local enthusiasts proceeded to Marton this morning to participate in tho /Wellington district provincial championship and minor matches.
