LONDON, Oct. 1. Viscount Torrington, w ho was arrested at Yalding, Kent, on a charge of offering a worthless cheque on a Nottingham bank, married a Gaiety actress, but was divorced in 1921 His bankruptcy in 1919 included a debt of £10,001) to his first wife.

Viscount Torrington was released on baiL until October 9. As tho offence is a misdemeanour, he will bo treated as a commoner, trial by Peers before tho House of Lords being reserved for felony.—A. and N.Z. cable.

Viscount Torrington succeeded his father in ISS9. In 1910 he married Eleanor, eldest daughter of Edwin Sou ray, of Long Ditton, Surrey. Ho was Pago of Honour to Queen Victoria, 1899-1901, and to King Edward from 1901 to 1910. Ho was a flight observer in the It.A.F. during the war, and was a prisoner in Bulgaria.
