A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The committee of the Ma.na.watu and West Coast A. and I’. Association met this morning, the president (Mr J. Id. Ferret) presiding. CORRESPONDENCE. From Mrs Freece and family returning thanks for kind expressions of sympathy. —Received. From the■ Minuter for Justice, per Mr J. A. Nash, M.F., agreeing with the committee of the association, in connection with the recent case of alleged trespass on the Showgrounds, that the request for an amendment of the Folicc Offences Act seemed reasonable, and that it had been noted for consideration when other amendments were being made.—Received, Mr Nash being thanked for his practical interest in the matter. It was decided to ask other associations anil the Manawatu Rugby Union‘to support the Manawatu body in the matter. From the Manawatu Rugby District Council thanking the association for remitting its gate percentage on the occasion of the charity match.—Received. From the Palmerston North Technical School advising of the formation of a class in agriculture and of the success of the dairy science class, and inviting tiio support of the association.—-Received, members being asked to support the classes where possible. From the .Borough Council advising that, following consideration of the representations of a deputation from the association in regard to electric light and power charges for current consumed at the Winter Show, it had been decided that the rate per unit to be charged be amended. The association would therefore bo charged 8d per unit nett for lighting and 4d per unit nett for power.—Received. GENERAL. It was deckled to proceed with the erection of a new bar on the Showgrounds. The need for larger water supply pipes to the Showgrounds was discussed, as it was revealed that the service at present was not sullieient to serve all requirements at the one time. Attention was directed by Mr W. McKenzie to the lire menace on account of the small supply pipes to the Showgrounds. That, lie said, had been made the subject of comment by the superintendent of the Palmerston North Fire Brigade. Mr Nash alluded to the necessity for making the Plunkel rooms and attendant conveniences much more suitable and up-to-date, and possibly placing them in a different quarter of the grounds. On his motion it was decided to secure a report from the grounds committee on the reerection of the ladies’ lavatory, the improvement, or shifting of the Plunket room and the provision of a more liberal water supply. . The matter of completing the length of brick wall at a cost of about £IOO was discussed and it was decided to defer it until the cost of the other improvements mentioned was known. In accordance • with notice of motion given by him, Mr D. Buchanan moved, and it was carried, that the regulation regarding the milking-out of cows or heifers in dairy classes be altered by inserting the words “on the Showground” after the words “in the presence of a steward.” The schedules were received and various other minor matters, such as a canvass on behalf of the association in Wellington, arranged.
