CARS AT SHOWS.
NEW PARKING ARRANGEMENT
A new arrangement for the parking of motor ears at the Showgrounds was arrived at at /the meeting of the committee of the Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association this, morning. In accordance with notice of motion given by him, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., moved, and it was carried, that the resolution that only members’ motor cars be admitted to tho Showgrounds at a fee of 2s 6d each be rescinded. , , , Mr Nash observed that that had not proved a success, and he thought that tho publio generally should now be given an opportunity to uso tho parking facilities. He moved accordingly, and it was carried that in future members’ cars bo admitted at Is 6d each, and that those of the public up to 500 in number, be. parked at a charge of 2s 6d each. The mover agreed with Mr Balsillie that, a hot water supply was essential to induce country people to park their cars in the grounds, as then they could pienje there without trouble. Mr M. A. Elliott observed that tho parking facilities would never be fully availed of so long as there was free parking on the roads. Mr Hodder stressed the need for careful organisation to prevent congestion and to enable nil to leave the ranks without difficulty. Mr Nash pointed oul that later on revenue could be derived from the parking area at large Rugby matches. There had, he said, been thousands of cars parked in the streeU on the occasion of t,he Alt Blacks’ match here.
