POSITION OF AN AMERICAN. INQUIRY TO BE MADE, Received Julv 20, 11.5 a.m. LONDON, July 19. ; Surprise was caused at the presentation of the trophies won at the Stamford Bridge athletic meeting, when it was announced that the medals won by the American Murchison for the 100 yards and 220 yards events would he withheld pending an investigation into his amateur status. —A. find N.Z. cable.
