SHIPPING DISPUTE
NEW FACTOR INTRODUCED. SPECIAL TRIBUNAL REQUESTED. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received July 20, 10.35 a.m. MELBOURNE. July 20. A new factor which has been introduced into the negotiations for the settlement ot the shipping trouble is a request on the part of the representative? of the Seamen’s Union that a special tribunal should be constituted to deal with future disputes and problems of the shipping industry. It is understood that the propos.al will be placed before the owners when the parties meet to-morrow. It is expected that the proposal will bo met by a definite refusal, the owners holding that a proper tribunal already exists in the Arbitration Court for the settlement of disputes.—Press Association. REFUSAL TO LOAD STEAMERS. Received July 20. 10.35 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 20. When the wharf labourers wore cailed on to load the coastal steamers Marratvah and Kooringa which are manned by volunteer labour, they refused to do so. The vessels were loaded by the office stall' of the owners, Messrs Holy man and Sons, and other labour the film could engage.— Press Association.
