Received July 20, 5.5 a.m. LONDON, July IS. In the Frinton semi-finals Kingsley beat Heath 6 —2, 4 —6, 6 —3. Reatt produced something like his old form m the second set and started the third well, gaining a lead of two love, but Kingsley took the next four and eventually the set. —A. and N.Z, cable. ANDERSON IN NEW YORK. LOST A LOT OF WEIGHT. NEW YORK, July 16. J. O. Anderson was interviewed on arrival, when ho looked unwell. He had lost much weight, which was due to sickness all the way from Australia to England. He declared that he was confident he would soon pick up. ‘‘The climate here always agrees with me,” said Anderson. The Australian has taken a house in Forest Hills, where lie intends practising for the Davis Cup. „ He stated that he would not participate in anything else except the national tournament. Patterson and Hawker are joining him next week. Anderson declared that the French, team had made great strides, particularly Lacoste, who was playing splendid tennis. Mdlle. Lenglen was also at her best. When asked his opinion of Australia’s chances of reaching the challenging round, he replied : “We will beatthe French. OF course, it is difficulf for me to say anything else, but 1 really believe it.” Anderson is accompanied by his wife and child, and also Mr Roy Taylor, who is participating in the practices. WINS FOR AUSTRALIANS. Received July 20, 8.5 a.m. NEW YORK, July 18. At Brookline, Patterson made a re« markable finish and won the final of the singles in the Longwood Bowl tournament defeating Harada 5—7, 75, 3 —6, 6 —3, 6—l. Hawkes and Patterson , won the doubles defeating H. 1. Johnson and Malcolm Hill, two local players, 6—2, 6—2, 6—3.—Reuter.
