WATER DISAPPEARS.
TROUBLE AT A SCHOOL. BUCKET BRIGADE PUPILS. THAMES, July 17. The Central School at Thames, attended by 400 pupils, is inconvenienced owing to' lack of water. The shortage is the resuit, of a break in the lvraiaeranga race. The headmaster has been compelled to enlist- the services 'of pup-.ls in cleansing the outhouses by means of a oucket brigade with water drawn from a tap at the main gate. Nino large business concerns are equipped with auxiliary power plants, wnieh they are supposed to use m the event of reservoir breakdowns and they are immediately warned that under no circumstances must water taken from the Waiokavaka reservoir, which is conserved, lor borough fuefigliting purposes. The Central school is also served from this reservoir, in spite of warnings given on July 3 ,100.000 gallons of water have disappeared, plough all the firms, including the power house, disclaim knowledge of it.
