HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. SEVERAL MEASURES CONSIDERED. Per Press Association. ' WELLINGTON, July 17. The House ot Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. On the motion of the Hon. W. Nosworthy, the Repayment of Public Debt Bill Was read the second time pro forma and referred to the public accounts committee.

Replying to Air de la Perrelle,' the Prime Alinister said the Highways Board had ample funds to go on with necessary works and did not. require the authority of Parliament.

The Prime Minister said, in reply to Mr Sidey, that he anticipated the public service classification list would be ready for publication in six weeks’ time.' The delay, was due to the appeals not being completed. On tho motion of the Hon. R. F. Bollard the Local Legislation Bill was introduced. and read the first time. The Shearers’ Accommodation Bill was, on the motion of Mr Howard, for Mr Langstone, introduced and read the first time.

The following bills were introduced by Governor-General s message and read the first time: Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill: and the Massey Burial Ground Bill, dedicating certain lands as a burial ground for the late Rt. Hon. AY. F. Massey and his widow.

The House also discussed the report on deteriorated lands (reported elsewhere in this issue) and adjourned from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. In the evening the second readings of the Kauri Gum Control Bill, the Stone Quarries’ Bill, and the Weights and Measures Bill were agreed to. . The Iron and Steel Industries Amendment Bill (Hon. G. J. Anderson) increasing the bounties on pig iron produced since January 1, 1925, from 12s to 30s per ton, also passed the second reading and the House adjourned at 10.30 till 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
