KILLING OF GAME.

CHARGES AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 18. Charges of taking or killing more than twenty-five head of native game were preferred in the Police Court against Stanley Raynor, farmer, Huntlv; D. Peekham, farmer Ohinewai; Luke Hughes, dealer, Auckland; and Dr. F. J. Raynor, Auckland; by the Acclimatisation Society. Dr. Rayner and Hughes were- also charged with being in possession of the protected birds, teal . duck. ' . Counsel for the defence said that the defendants shot 23 brace on Mav 1 and 28 brace the following day. There was no doubt that they underestimated the number they were shooting. Mr Poynton, S.M., fined Stanley ltayner and Peekham £lO each. In the" second case the Magistrate held that there was no prim a facie case for a conviction and dismissed the charge.
