IRON AND STEEL TRUST.
GERMANS AND FRENCHMAN
LONDON, June 28
The Daily Telegraph’s Berlin correspondent says: “After many months of negotiations an agreement has been reached for the formation of a Franco-German iron and steel trust. Those interested may deny the statement, but 1 have received it Horn unquestionable authority. “France receives the right to send to Germany 1} million tons of iron ore from Alsace-Lorraine, the Sarre and Luxembourg annually. The German and French industries retain control of their own home markets, but will form a joint syndicate for foreign operations," orders from which will he divided proportionally between France and Germany. A separate syndicate is being formed to control the output and long-term contracts for delivery of French ore to Germany anil Ruhr coal to France. The agreement opens up the prospect of comnrehensive Franco-German industrial co-operation, the political consequences of which may be most important.—A. and N.Z. cable.
