CONFIDENCE TRICKSTERS. NEW ZEALAND VISITOR ROBBED. LONDON. June 29. British detectives are searching for four well-dressed confidence tricksters for robbing an overseas visitor of £ISOO in Bank of New Zealand notes. They met the visitor in a London hotel and casually mentioned that they had important and exclusive racing information which the visitor could share. As no money was asked for, the visitor accepted and bets were made over the telephone. The visitor later was told he had won i'3ooo. He was delighted, but was asked to show he had sufficient funds to pay the, bets if he lost, whereupon ho- handed over to Ihe men £ISOO. They departed To collect tho £3OOO. making an appointment to meet the overseas visitor in I’aris. Ho went and waited in vain, and then informed the police.— A. and N.Z. cable.
