SAT AND WATCHED IT BURN

A youth of 19, named Alfred James Vullutice f’edforn, who was described by the probation officer as simple and childish, having pleaded guilty at To Awa mutu to setting lire to the I’ukcatua Public Hall, came up for sentence before His Honour Air Justico Herdman, at Hamilton the other day. Tho youth, in a statement to the police, admitted that ho set the hall on fire for fun by lighting a quantity of paper and Bibles which he found in a cupboard. He then Bat at a distance and watched the place burn, and when the crowd gathered at tho building ho joined them. Prisoner was placed on probation for two years, conditionally on his father re. training him under his caro and that he reports to the police at Kihikihi weekly.
