MEETING OF ASSOCIATION
The weekly meeting of the executive o! the Manawatu Hockey Association was lie.'d on Monday night, Mr F. Cousin; presiding. CORRESPONDENCE.
From the New Zealand Hockey Association stating that the visiting Australian players would reach Palmerston North on Wednesday, July 15th, at noon, anil leave at 9.55 that evening.—Received, the arrangement meeting with the approval o the members.
From the Rttahine Ladies’ Hotkey As sociation stating that Mr Soundy had agreed to meet the representatives appointed to discuss arrangements in connection with the Nopera Cup and asking that thi; association arrange a meeting place in order that Feilding could be advised. At regards a curtain-raiser to the Australian match the prospects of a ladies’ team coming to Palmerston North provided expenses were paid were favourable. —Re ceived, it being decided to olfor £5 towards the expenses of the team. From the Southland Ladies’ Association asking for the association’s support of their application for the chumpionship tournament and advancing several reasons us io why the event should be held at Invercargill.—Held over. GENERAL. Arrangements in connection with the visit of the Australian team were discussed at length, the chairman explaining wha, had been done in the matter. Providing that satisfactory arrangement i can be mado with the A. and P. Association, it was resolved that the Australia v. Manawatu match be played on the Showgrounds. Messrs Hostick and Wilson were appointed coach and trainer respectively to the Manawatu team. The following committees were elected: Finance, Messrs Aitcheson, Harvey and Unstick; advertising, Messrs Wilson and Aitcheson; transport, Messrs Blackburn, Chapman, Scott and Mattnews ground, Messrs Broughton, Reeves and Tozer; entertainment, Reeve. Chapman, Matthews anil Wilson. The chairman requested that at the weekly meetings the chairmen ot the various committees bring down a repoit on the progress made. In connection with the primary schools competition, Mr C. Blackbourn, chairman of the schools’ committee, reported tna: they had waited upon three schools, Central, College street and Ilokowhitu, anil met with a good reception. Regarding the first school, Mr Burgess had promised that three teams would take the field; at College street the trouble was that there want. teacher suitable to take up the work of organising, and the headmaster c.l Ilokowhitu had stated that just now the bovs were all too small. Mr A. 11. ( lini stated that he had secured the promise of twenty-five players from Terrace End School.
