EARL OF YPRES.
REPORTED TO BE SINKING. LONDON, May 21. An unexpected bulletin issued reports that the Earl of Y'pres (formerly Sir John French) is sinking and there appears to be little hope ior his recovery.
The Earl is lying at Deal Castle, where he insisted on being taken in a motor ambulance the nursing home in London, on Sunday. The castle is within two miles of his birthplace and has been his official residence as captain of Deal since 1923. Local ex-servicemen paraded on Tuesday in front of the castle alid saluted the Earl of Ypres, who was lying at an open window. The Earl smartly raised his hand from the bedclothes', in return. —A. and N.Z. cable.
