DAIRY INDUSTRY
VACANCIES ON CONTROL BOARD. KEEN INTEREST IN ELECTION. Nominations for three vtnancies on tho Dairy Produce Control Beard caused by retirements required annually by the Act closed at noon on Wednesday with the returning officer, Mr 11. Jerard, of tho Agricultural Department. The retiring members are Messrs Grounds and W. CL Motion (North Island), and J. R. Hamilton (South Island). The following nominations were received North Island: Messrs IT. R. Hogg (Opotiki), C. A. Stafford (Te Poi), Henry Bodley (Wellington,, W. Grounds (Ilokianga), P. W. Dixon (Rongotea), G. Gibson (Rahotu), W. C. Motion (Waiuku). South Island: Messrs J. R. Hamilton (Winton), W. Robertson (Middlemarch), and W. Bryant (Otokia). It is clear that the large lumber of candidates is evidence that there is opposition to the scheme of absolute (ontrol recently decided upon by the board (comments the Dominion). Nominations were late in coining in, and the large nimber of candidates received was no doubt due to the fear that the sitting membeis would be returned unopposed.
