INCREASE IN SYDNEY.,

FICTION AND POETRY WANTED. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Receive.d May 15, 10.50 a.m. SYDNEY, May 15.

The city librarian’s report to the town clerk points out that during the past three years there has been a steady increase in the demand for books at the Municipal Library, tho increase being mainly in fiction atjd poetry. During 1924 a record output of books was registered, tlie total demand being 461,008 compared with 446,648 during the previous year. In tho past two years 2158 books, mainly fiction, were stolen. Tlie librarian states that this loss by theft was the aftermath of the war as prior to 1916 tho loss was infinitesimal.—Press Association.
