Tha Minister of Lands (Hon. A. D. McLeod! has been confined to his residence for tha past few days through indisposition. A London message states that Lord Milner is in a serious condition, suffering from sleeping sioknesa. Mr R. V. Purton, who was gravely injured in a level crossing accident at Kelvin Grove, is improving slightly, but is still in a serious condition. His Honour Mr Justice Reed, who is to preside at the Supreme Court sessions commencing to-morrow, arrived from Wellington by tha New Plymouth express today. Mr Lamasan, an overseer of tho Public Works Department,, is at present in Palmerston North in connection with tho propceed alterations to the local Post. Office. At the annual mooting of the district branches of the Now Zealand Educational Institute at Marton on Saturday, regret was expressed by tho chairman, Mr Hempieman, at tho absence of Mr D. W. Low; and it was decided to place on record the appreciation of the committee of Mr Low’s valuable service in past years and. to congratulate him on hi» suecess at the municipal election of councillors for Palmerston North.
