MESOPOTAMIA DEFENCES. LONDON, March 30. The Daily Express’s special Bagdad correspondent had a special interview with King Feisul, who was attired in the uniform of a British Field-Marshal. The King, in discussing tho possibility of Mesopotamia assuming full responsibility for the defence of the country said that if necessary conscription would be introduced but tho consequences would be grave if Britain withdrew her troops. “At present,” ho said, “we are striving in every was to reduce tlio charge of Britain. There has been a steady decrease in Britain’s expenditure in Mesopotamia since 1919.” King Feisul expressed the hope that the Anglo-Persian Oil Company would soon pay royalties on its concessions, which would add to the country’s revenue. —A. and N.Z. cable.
