THIRD PRIZE FOR SHELLEY. Received March 30, 10 a.m. CAPETOWN, March 29. The wi lole country is laughing at a joke per] etrated on the literary authorities of the Rand University. In a magazine competition Shelley’s lyric “Like tio ghost of a dear friend dead,” was submitetd under the nom de plume “Ridens,” and was awarded third pri :e, the judges stating that tho writer “showed promise and deserved er couragement, but the diction was not clear.” —Sydney Sun cable.
