Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, March 8. Tho Marlborough Racing Club’s summer meeting second day’s races were held in splendid weather. The course was in good order, and there was a large attendance. The totalizator put through £1650 more than tho second day last year, the figures being £17,355 and £15,705. Additional results:—

SPEARFELT WINS KING’S PLATE. [By Electrio Telegraph .—Copy right.] MELBOURNE, March 8. For tho Victorian Racing Club’s meeting there was fine weather and a large attendance, many inter-Stute and New Zealand sportsmen being present. The going was good. Laveuse headed Peacemaker and Manacre insido the distance in the Gibson Carmichael Stakes and won race in record time. The Now Zealand horse Estuary was third and Slapdash tenth. Laveuse was trained by the New Zealander, D. J. Price. The New Zealand horse Father s Voice was prominent early in tho race in tho Leonard Stakes, but Mercian King finish-
ed best and won nicely. Father’s Voioe was fifth. G. 11. Harrison rode Laveuse and Mercian King. The latter was bred and trained by his owner. There was a great race in the King’s Plate. Speurfelt was last early in the race, but finished with a great run in the straight and won amidst cheers. The colt is engaged in the Sydney Gup. Speurfelt is trained by the New Zealander, Vincent O’Neill. The last four furlongs of the race were covered in 48 3-ssecs., the last six in 1.144, and the last mile in 1.404. King Pan credited his trainer, Holt, with his second win at the meeting and gave his jockey his twenty-ninth win of the season. The time for the race was a record, the last four furlongs being covered in 484 secs. The veteran Monroso had a great reception on winning the Autumn Steeples. lie is trained by H. Connelly. In this race Warlock broke a shoulder. In the Farewell Handicap, Adrift was always handy and ran to the front in the straight. The time 1.38, was a record for the race, the last four furlongs being covered in 484 secs. In the Northcote Handicap, Answer unseated his rider, O’Meally, at tho start. Forty-eight owners shared the total of £31,466 of the V.R.C. Stakes. Mr Cameron receives £2219 and Mr Stead £5lB.
