An excellent haul of “the first oyster* of the season” was made by the Bluff trawling fleet on Tuesday last, a total of four small steamers being engaged in the task. The first lecture on “Outstanding Figures in History,” a series of which will be delivered this winter under the W.E.A. scheme, will be given on Tuesday night at Rawlins’s tea rooms, the Square. The subject being “Perioles, the Statesman of Athens.” The secretary will bo in attendance at 7.30 to enrol students, and as usual visitors will be welcomed. Make your selection from the dozens of lovely new liats now on display at the C. M. Rose Co,, Ltd., if you are desirous of securing the proper touches of correct autumn style.
