NAVAL RATINGS.

REAR-ADMIRAL’S TRIBUTE. FREMANTLE, Feb. 18. Speaking at a civic reception tendered to the officers and crews of the Sydney and Brisbane to-day, RearAdmiral Hall Thompson paid a tribute to the excellence of the Australian naval ratings. The Australian Navy, he said, was not a tinpot one, but was an efficient, if inadequate, fighting force. He welcomed the decision of the' Federal Government to provide two new cruisers and two new submarines.
