DEATH THROUGH SCUFFLE.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 9. A Supreme Court jury returned a verdict of not guilty against Robert Wiffen, aged 65 years, in the case arising out of the death of John 13aiiey, aged 50 years, as the result of an altercation outside an hotel on December 27th, when both men were the worse for liquor. When struck or pushed by Bailey, Wiffen fell and sustained a fracture of the skull. The jury returned a verdict of guilty of common assault. Accused was sentenced to two years' reformative treatment and was ordered to abstain from liquor.
