JAPANESE SAILOR.

SEVENTEEN DROWN IN HARBOUR VANCOUVER. Feb. 9. The visit of the Japanese fleet was marred by a surious accident. Several hundred men from the cruiser Asalha wero returning to tho ship at ouc o'clock this morning when a squall swept Vancouver harbour. One lurge liberty boat containing 140 men overturned. The other boats hurried on in tho darkness in answer to the cries of the drowning men. Tho latest reports show that 17 sailors were drowned. —A. and N.Z. cable.
