HEALTH MINISTER'S STATEMENT. AUCKLAND, Feb. 6. Sir Maui Pomare (Minister of Health) was reported this morning as having said that research work regarding infantile paralysis was being conducted both in Auckland and Wellington and in the circumstances there was no call for a special grant for the purpose as suggested by the British Medical Association. Sir Maui Pomare said .to-day that he nr,#er made such a statement. It was unfair to attribute such remarks to himself. He was putting the Auckland resolution before Cabinet and was satisfied that the proposals would get every consideration. Dr. Gilmour, of the Auckland hospital, would shortly. devote the whole' of his time to investigation in collaboration with Dr. Lynch, of Wellington. FATAL CASE AT PATEA. HAWERA, Feb. 6. A ca=c of infantile paralysis at Patea, that of a Maori child, has ended fatally. WOMAN FINED FOR DISOBEYING ORDER. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Feb. 6 A married woman, Dora King, who had been ordered to remain in her homo for 14 days owing to a case r.i infantile paralysis in the house, 'wis ;it ;ho Court to-day fined £2 for breaking the order. The Magistrate said that oll'.vnces such as this were regarded as ,-crious.
