OPEN RANGE SHOOTING.
LINTON CLUB OPENS SEASON. The Linton Rifle Club opened its summer activities on Wednesday afternoon when the mid-week section fired three series of seven shots at the 300 yards mound on the Aokautero range. Conditions were pleasant, although a choppy easterly wind made matters somewhat difficult. Following the firing of a practice round, the first sections in the GreerNewth and Pickering Cups were contested, J, Kyle heading the returns with 33 in the former and W. Randell the second with 32. Next Wednesday's matches will be fired at the 500 yards range.
