COUNCILLORS' INTENTIONS. SEVERAL TO STiiND AGAIN. Public interest in the municipal elections to take place on April 25) is beginning to be evinced about town, and, at the meeting of tho Hokowhitu .Ratepayers' Association last night, it was stated that that organisation proposed to noifiinate several candidates for seats on the council with the object"of furthering the interests of that quarter of Palrnerston North. The Mayor (Mr F. J. Nathan) has already intimated his intention to stand for one more term only. The sitting councillors are: Crs Jackson, Graham, Eliott, McLeavey, West, Fitzherbert, Oram, Can ton and Hodgens. At the same time as the municipal elections will be conducted the election of borough representatives on the Wellington and Foxton Harbour Boards, the Palrnerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board. The sitting representative on the Wellington Harbour Board is Mr M Cohen; on the Foxton Harbour Board, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P.; on the Palrnerston North Hospital Board, Mrs L. A. Abraham, and Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., and F. Pycroft, and on the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P. (chairman), jilliott, and S. R. Lancaster. This morning a "Standard" reporter waited upon tho majority of the sitting councillors with the object of ascertaining their intentions with regard to the forthcoming municipal elections. Cr Jackson said that a pending business arrangement would decide whether he would again stand for a seat on the Borough Council. As yet he could not make a definite pronouncement on the matter.

"I intend to come out again," said Fitzherbert, when approached. "I am keen to further the interests of the people of the borough and find tho council duties interesting." Cr Graham was at first somewhat reticent on the question. "I don't know really, but I suppose that when one know r s his duty to tho public and is familiar with the requirements of the borough it is his duty to come out at the municipal elections. Probably I will stand again," he concluded. "I am not going to make a definite statement at present but as far as I know now I will probably not be offering myself as a candidate for a further term of office on the council," was Cr Oram's reply to the reporter. Cr West was most emphatic that he would not again seek municipal honours. "I will not stand again under any consideration," ho toll the reporter. Cr Eliott declined to make a definite statement, paying that at present he was quite undecided as to whether lie would again contest the election or not. There is a rumour current that a Labour candidate for the Mayoralty will be nominated.
