PRIEST'S TERRIBLE ACT.

SHOOTS GIRL DEAD. MADRID, Jan. 5. A priest named Marquina, aged 28 years, pressed unwelcome attentions on Dolores Gonzalez, a pretty girl of 20 years, and then, furious at her repulsion, shot and slightly wounded her. The priest was arrested,, but released with a caution, in order to hush up the affair. Yesterday, Marquina again saw Dolores walking with girl friends, and withoiit a word he shot her dead. Only the intervention of the police saved him from lynching by an infuriated crowd. The police called out reinforcements to guard the prison where Marquina is incarcerated, because they feared the. public would attack the building.—A. and N.Z. cable.
