ESCAPING THE WINTER.

G. B. SHAW GOES ABROAD. LONDON, Dec. 24. Mr George Bernard Shaw, the dramatist, and his wife are going to Madeira to undergo the sun-bathing treatment, on the advice of Sir Herbert Barker, the famous manipulative surgeon, who is a strong advocate of the treatment. v "There's nothing wrong with my health," said Mr Shaw (who is a vegetarian). "I'm merely escaping the winter. If Australia were as near as Madeira I'd gladly have gone to Australia. I receive hundreds of invitations to visit all parts of the world, but remember my age I" Mr Shaw is 68. He married in 1898 Charlotte Frances Payne-Townshend.
