WHOLESALE SUICIDE.
WHOLE FAMILY GASSED. NEW YORK, Dec'. 25". New York experienced warmer weather to-day, after a Sunday that was the third coldest winter day in the past 50 years. Mountainous districts in tho upper portion qf the State registered as low as 26 degrees below zero. A dozen suicides are said to be due to the fearful misery caused by the extreme weather. ' , Fifteen persons died as the result of inhaling illuminating gas, the saddest case being the wholesale suicide of one family. ■ Five people, John Horrocks, his wife, brother-in-law, and two daughters, were found dead in a room hermetically sealed, with gas pouring in from all jets. _ Chicago fireman responded to 400 alarms on Sundays, which , were duo mostly to fires, overheated, flues and furnaces. > ' 11,1' , /■' iILIU ,11 U'TIB 1 '
