BOXING
McDONALD-PARKER CONTEST.
“The best fight in Netv Zealand,” is what, tho public are saying of the professional match arranged between the middleweight champion Lackie MacDonald and the ex-champion Eddie Parker for a purse of £2OO and the middleweight title. This contest is to bo staged at the Opera House, Palmerston North, and Boxing Night, December 20, and is creating quite a stir amongst the followers of the “manly art.” Never were two boys more evenly matched—the previous fight between the two went to MacDonald on points, but a drawn would have satisfied most of the spectators and the press reports were most eulogistic. The preliminaries arranged should also lie interesting, partcularlv the six-round fight between Bill Walden, the Manawatu champion lightweight, and Nelson MeKnight, a very clever boxer who will be seen for the first time in Palmerston North. This is to be Bill Walden’s last amateur fight, as ho turns professional in tho New Year. The box plan may be seen at Oates’ music stores.
