DECLINED BY A GERMAN. LONDON. Dee. 6. Sir Max L. Waeehter left £603.697 net, whereon the death duties amounted to £170,0-00. He left half the residue to his .successor to the title and half to a nephew in Berlin, stipulating that, if the present German legacy laws are not repealed, the nephew' must reside in the British Empire ami become, a British subject. The Daily Express's Berlin correspondent state; that* Dr. Waeehter, professor of economics, and nephew of Sir -Max L. Waeehter, says: “I am a German and ain going to remain a German. All the money in the world will not tempt me to change my nationality. 1 was always on the best- of terms with my uncle, and confess I am surprised at this condition in his will, which lie must have known would not be accepted.” The doctor lias a wife and six children, the eldest twelve, and his decision means the loss of £230,000.—-A. and N.Z. cable.
