WINNING PENS OF FAT LAAIBS. The thirty-one pens entered in the class for fat lambs most suitable for export at the first Royal Show were killed and dressed at Long-burn. The results show that the dressed weight averaged from 27.661 b to 37.661 b. The details of the three winning pens are as follow: 1. AY. 11. The carcases which have been slaughtered are being shipped Home, and their suit-' ability will be judged by three Smithfielcl butchers, who will award the prizes to the lambs conforming most to . the Engliah palate, The New Zealand Aleat Producers Board is so pleased with the result of this competition at the late Royal Show that it lias agreed to again offer £6O in prizes at the next Royal Show in Christchurch, but the standard of live weight has been raised from 701 b to 721b.' The conditions laid down by the 'Meat Board for the competition at the next Royal Show are as follow: Class 1. Fat lambs most suitable for Dominion’s export trade and the type meet desired to keep up our reputation on the London market, each pen to consist of three lambs, each individual lamb in pen not to exceed 721 b live weight, and to be. weighed on the show ground by steward; before judging, purebred lambs not allowed to compete, prizes for the best pens to be awarded as follow: First prize, £ls; second prize, £10; third prize, £5. Class 2. All the lambs entered in the above class to be killed and chipped Home to the board’s London manager, who will arrange a special display of them on the Smithfielcl market, the quality of the carcases to be judged by three judges, to be appointed by the British Incorporated Society of Aleat- Importers, prizes for the best lot of three carcases to be awarded an follow : First prize, £ls ; second prize, £lO ; third prize, £5.
