LONDON, Dec. 0. it is understood, according to information from a well-informed, hut unofficial source, that steps are likely to he taken soon to push on with the plan for the construction of the Singapore base. Probably the estimates for 1925-20 will provide the necessary current expenditure. The Imperial Defence Committee discussed the question of the Singapore base. Lt is understood it recommended that work he resumed. It is expected Cabinet’s acquiescence will be indicated in the King’s Speech in Parliament on Tuesday. In the meantime, tho Dominions will probably be consulted further. More than £120.000 of the preliminary vote remains unexpended.—A. and N.Z. cable.
